Birthday!

Eunji's Day

Dear Umma Appah Oppah,

This is what I did on my birthday. It's not much but it's what I do everyday and so you should know.

This is my work desk (I got it for free). Those are four GRE books and notes I've been making (because I am not naturally smart like Umma or Oppah) but I am a hardworker (like Appah who is also naturally smart). Also I made stamina charts to show my progress, if you'd like to know my progress has been going down so I've been back tracking to see what the heck is going on. The disparity between my scores were at first, funny, but now they are not. Out of 800 for each section, if I get around 6-700 on my verbal, I will get roughly 3-400 on my math. But you know what? I am a hardworker....

I also had an interview which went smoothly. I was introduced to the writing, news, publishing team and began editing letters to the editor (before she edits them herself). I work for the Opinion Section. http://www.ocregister.com/sections/opinion/

This might be very good for me if I don't get into graduate school. Unpaid as it is, it definitely has the potential to flourish into something of a career (I am quoting my boss here).

Then, I made Kimchi Jjigae. I've become very good at it as you can see the generous helpings of tofu and spam. I make sure to eat extra when I'm studying.

This is Ari and he doesn't like to look up at people (since he's so small) so he goes on top of the couch to be taller. He likes looking over while I'm cooking.

Also, it's been getting colder so I bought him a new polo which was on sale. It's his favorite.

This is a small cake Cheikh bought me. I told him along with many that I'd hate such festivities during my exam time, so he was very defiant about bringing this cake. It was very stale and gross and I told him to throw it away, but it turned out nice to light some candles anyways.

Well, that is the whole of my day. Dogs and Books. But I'm very focused in such an environment, and happy. Ari does his best trick here called "Totem Pole". He could stand like this for up to 2 minutes!

I miss you very much. I'm waiting for the word that you've all arrived in one city and I'll be up in Fremont faster than you can say.... KIMCHI JJIGAE?

Upcoming: This Tuesday will be a big day where I meet all my professors about my portfolio and try to analyze the potential of my application. Could I actually get accepted in a top ranked MFA program? Are my poems as strong as I had hoped? These will all be answered in a few short days and I will have to keep you updated.
I was hoping you could pray for me if you had the time--I'm going to need some strength for the next few months!

See you soon
and Thanks for being my family!

Eunji
